They took part in a school competition with a combination of original songs and covers from Uriah Heep, Led Zeppelin, and Black Sabbath. A demo was recorded before the addition of drummer Ingo Schwichtenberg and bassist Markus Grosskopf and a name change to Second Hell. Tracks written during this period, such as "Gorgar", "Phantoms of Death", "Murder", and "Victim of Fate" would later appear on early Helloween releases. Gamma Ray's "Heading for Tomorrow" was also written during this period. As Helloween's career took off, Piet Sielck worked as a studio engineer.
