The song, Bring Your Daughter... to the Slaughter, was intended to be issued as a single, but the release was cancelled when it was decided that the song should be re-recorded by Iron Maiden. It eventually went on to become their only UK #1 single to date in December 1990, over a year after the original recording was released. The original version was only released officially on the film soundtrack album, though promotional singles were distributed. Janick Gers performed guitars on Bring Your Daughter... and then also agreed to co-write and record Bruce's debut solo album, Tattooed Millionaire. Gers had been on the brink of quitting the music business, but instead ending up joining Bruce in Iron Maiden as a replacement for Adrian Smith. Bruce continued his solo work as a side project before departing Maiden in the early '90s to explore styles other than metal. Two sessions, firstly with the rock band Skin and then record producer Keith Olsen, were aborted before Bruce recorded Balls to Picasso with the Latin rock band Tribe of Gypsies. The song Tears of the Dragon was carried over from the Olsen sessions and became one of Bruce's best-regarded solo songs. Tribe of Gypsies continued their own career, and Bruce decided to form a new band rather than continuing as a solo artist.
