Starting to Scare Me
Katelyn Tarver is no stranger to the spotlight. Her songs have amassed over 200 million streams, led by her viral hit “You Don’t Know.” She has an impressive resume of songwriting credits, having co-written Cheryl Cole’s #1 Single “Crazy Stupid Love” and Old Dominion’s single “Young,” which was a winning track on NBC’s Songland. She’s also built a stellar acting resume, appearing in shows like HBO’s "Ballers," ABC Family’s "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" and Nickelodeon's "Big Time Rush." “Starting to Scare Me,” the newest single from Tarver is reflective and candid, true to Tarver’s distinct lyrical style. It’s familiar and nostalgic, reminiscent of 90s influences with pulsing guitars and a memorable hook. “This song is about indulging in self destructive behavior because it’s easier than doing the work of looking underneath it to try and figure out what’s causing it in the first place,” says Tarver. “I’ve spent a lot of time running from my darker impulses, pushing them down, pretending they’re not there… this song is about shining a spotlight on them and kind of liking the feeling even though it.. well.. uh.. scares me.”
