OYO is back with another selection of tunes from their SECRET STASH for the compilation series’ second installment, which delivers five tracks from known label associates and new faces alike in a selective package that is set to deliver disruptive sonic frequencies to dancefloors worldwide. The sonic delicacies contained within stand unbridled from all but the most fundamental traditions of Drum & Bass, and deliver a myriad of novel tonalities steeped in the label’s brash and boisterous attitude. CLIKVORK delivers the first finery from the stash atop the undulating bassline of the sci-fi inspired “Republic Commando”, which is then followed by the shuffling percussive cacophony of “You Don’t Belong Here” from label mainstays KLAY & FANATICS. From here, L3MMY DUBZ conducts a symphony of sinister strings ever upwards into the waiting jaws of an absolutely monstrous construction of metallic tones that rebound off of one another with viscous elasticity. At this point, the SECRET STASH comes under the influence of the elder gods with OWLS OF FILTH’s “Cthulhu” as they warp all sense of audio normalcy within their addition to the stash in a fitting tribute to the entity they name. WHISPER then delivers the stash’s most outright aggressive track with PUNISH, a track so named for the sheer weight of the distortion that it brings to bear on all sounds within its purview and extending this approach to any space that its soundwaves may be delivered upon. With their second SECRET STASH, OYO redoubles their commitment to some of Drum & Bass’ most absurdly entertaining sounds as their selected artists combine devastatingly powerful productions with an attitude of irreverence that instills a sense of levity amidst their combined bassweight.
