Sound Mirror Records Sampler

Track 1 : Brian Godding with GLSB-No More Games. What would you get if you put Jeff Beck, David Gilmour and Alan Holdsworth in a blender? Well, a nasty mess probably...but in guitaring terms you get Brian Godding. One of the UK's finest talents, this track also features Steve Lamb on Bass, Steve Bull on keyboards and Dave Sheen, drums. Taken from his solo album "Slaughter on Shaftesbury Avenue" which is no longer available (the record company lost the master tapes!). Remarkably this was restored from a cassette at SB Audio Ltd. newmannretro.com for more info........................................

Track 2 : Cold Heart-Jo Harman. This is the mega talented vocalist and songwriter Jo Harman. Featuring the amazing Luke Smith on Hammond organ and piano, John McKenzie on Bass, Mike Davies, acoustic guitar and Jim Kimberley, drums. The vocal and backing vocals were recorded using an NR47 mic at Yellow Fish studios and the track mixed and mastered by SB Audio Ltd. joharman.com for further info......................................................

Track 3 : Kevin Coyne-Eastbourne Ladies (Live). This was taken from a dusty cassette found lying under a bed for 30 years! It was recorded from the mixing desk by Steve Ludlam in a small club in Holland around 1982. The band : Peter Kirtley guitar, Steve Lamb bass, Steve Bull keyboards, Dave Wilson drums. Listen to a great new album called "Nobody dies in Dreamland" for more of Kevin's undiscovered work.........................................................

Track 4 : Guy Pratt-Valbonne. Guy is world famous for his session work for Madonna, Jackson, Robert Palmer etc and also for his exploits on world tours with Roxy Music and Pink Floyd. He is also a humorous author and stand up comedian as well as writing music for film, T.V. and hopefully lucrative Audi commercials. Lovely fella too. guypratt.ricardopadua.com..............................................................

Track 5 : Meyer and Ottesen-Angel. Pede Meyer and Jeper Ottesen are from Denmark. You can find some great quality video by them of this and other songs (using a Newmann Retro microphone) on You Tube. Very talented guys.........................................................

Track 6 : Mirage-Time Less Words. This was restored from vinyl by SB Audio Ltd and features Brian Godding on guitars, George Kahn sax/flute, Steve Cook bass, Dave Sheen drums. A marvellous sound for 1977 ! An absolute classic............................................................

Track 7 : The Name-Dangerous Times (Live). "The Name" were a stadium rock band in the 80s, popular in Europe and London. Quite a saga this as the 2 inch multis were in a terrible state having to be baked in a low oven for 24 hours before transfer, mix and master at SB Audio Ltd. Band : Mark Strobel vocals, Steve Bull keyboards, Steve Lamb bass, Brian Gatens drums and Steve Crittall guitar. Look them up on Facebook. We will be releasing a "Lost Tapes" album by The Name soon............................................................

Track 8 : Ballard-Searching for the Summer. This is Darren Riley's alter ego...Ballard. A talented singer/songwriter. Look for his photography as well on the internet. Google panchoballard lomography...................................................

Track 9 : The Swing Ninjas-Primate Shake. "The Swing Ninjas" are the hardest working band in Brighton. They have a great website where you can buy their new album "Stop Killing the Jazz Man". more at theswingninjas.co.uk...............................................

Les bull on trumpet and vocal, Sandy Axon Trombone, John Smyth drums, Jack Gregg bass, Ian Kirsopp banjo, Mike Unthank clarinet, Sam Bracken guitar. recorded live in a small venue on 8 track cassette.
